The Hero Roster screen is where you learn what your team won't tell you.
Hero traits — what they're good at, and what they'd rather hide.
Weaknesses — the cracks in the armor you manage around.
Backstories — the reasons they're difficult, late, or fiercely loyal.
Skill improvements — earned, not given. Choices matter: a wrong call loses trust; the right one builds it. You're Robert Robertson, ex-Mecha Man, now the voice in their earpiece. Los Angeles is the workplace. The job is keeping powered people from imploding before lunch.
Right-click on the city map.
Most players scroll and squint. A secondary click on any emergency icon skips the hero-assignment panel and instantly selects the last hero you dispatched. One less drag. One less click. Works everywhere except scripted multi-phase crises.
Two other small things:
- Spacebar during dialogue — advances text without selecting a response. The game never tells you this.
- Tab on the Roster screen — cycles through hero stat sheets. Faster than mousing to the arrows.
The dispatch timer sound can be silenced in audio settings. The slider is labeled "Alert Pulse." People miss it.
One crisis, cleanly handled
A tanker overturns on the 110. Fire. Civilians trapped. The map shows a tier-two emergency with a fifteen-minute decay.
Open the Roster. You need crowd control and heavy lift.
Tab to Coldfront. Her ice walls buy time. Weakness: enclosed heat — the fire will drop her morale fast. Pair her with Brawler. His trait "Shield Bunker" protects one ally from environmental damage. Select both. Confirm dispatch.
During the mission, a dialogue choice appears: Brawler wants to charge the flames directly. Override him. Let Coldfront contain the perimeter first. Loyalty with Brawler dips slightly, but Coldfront gains a trust point — and the civilians are pulled out before the second explosion.
The map clears. The agency director sends a dry compliment. No fanfare. That's the tone.
This sequence takes four minutes. Every step is a small decision. None of it is spelled out in a tutorial.
The dispatch mac torrent crowd often finds these layers. The game rewards slowing down.
