You are John Blacksad, a private eye in 1950s New York, working a corruption case that pulls you through the city's underworld.

Investigation — you walk the scene, examine clues, and piece together what happened. The game leaves the thinking to you.

Dialogue — conversations branch. What you ask, what you accuse, changes who trusts you and what doors open next.

Quick time events — sudden fights or chases demand fast reactions. The controls stay simple; the timing is what matters.

Puzzles — small logic gaps block your path. The solutions come from something you noticed earlier.

Every few minutes the task shifts. One scene you are reading a room. The next you are talking your way past a cop, then catching your breath after a brawl.

Blacksad runs well alongside the clipboard and the notebook. Copy a name from a conversation, paste it into a plain text file, and you build your own case file outside the game. macOS Dictation can catch lines you want to remember — a suspect's alibi, a phrase that sounds off. Mission Control lets you flick between the game and your notes without losing the scene's atmosphere.

Spotlight indexing stays quiet during play. No overlays, no pop-ups.

Other games

Wolf Among Us — same comic-book roots, same detective's coat. But it leans harder into timed dialogue and moral binaries. Blacksad gives you more room to walk, look, and draw your own conclusions before the story moves.

L.A. Noire — more open city, more driving. Its interrogation system demands face-reading. Blacksad keeps the focus smaller: a few streets, a boxing gym, a club. Less sprawl, more pressure.

Disco Elysium — no combat, all inner voices. Blacksad moves between thought and fist. The body matters here. You throw a punch; you duck one. The physical stakes stay present.
