Version 2.7.3.0 adds a new character and quests, and bundles the complete saga.

The campaigns

You get the full arc. Shadows of Amn starts in a dungeon and spirals out. Throne of Bhaal closes the story with high-level tactics.

New heroes

Four new characters join the roster, each with a personal epic woven into the main thread. Their presence shifts the party dynamics in quiet, interesting ways.

The engine

It runs on an updated Infinity Engine. Isometric art holds up. Pathfinding is sharper than memory suggests.

Continuity

A typical session starts in the inventory screen. Not the world map.

You check encumbrance. Swap a ring. Read a spell description twice. Five minutes pass before anyone moves. This is the real game.

Then you unpause. The party shuffles through Waukeen’s Promenade. A mage triggers Contingency. Someone fails a save against Fear and runs toward the fog of war. You tap spacebar. Reassign targets. Send Minsc forward. Pause again. The rhythm is punctuation — tap, reassess, tap. Combat resolves in six-second rounds, but your hands are busier than the animations suggest.

Between fights, dialogue unfolds. A new companion challenges your last decision. You weigh the response. Every choice nudges alignment, reputation, or a future betrayal. You save before bed. You always save before bed.

One hour vanishes. You’ve cleared half a dungeon floor and read every item description along the way. The game rewards slowness. That’s its appeal.

Neera's woven arc

The new character lands early. Not as a headline cameo — they meet you in Athkatla and stay relevant. Their quest line threads through Shadows of Amn and nudges a late-game choice in Throne of Bhaal. It feels native, not bolted on.

Bundling both campaigns smooths the transition at the expansion break. No export step. No launcher switch. The saga plays as one long descent.

Under the hood, the ARM build quietens the fan on Apple Silicon machines. Load times shrink. Pathfinding in crowded interiors feels less drunk. Small things, but they accumulate over a hundred hours.

You can carry a character forward from Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. Decisions echo.
