A 2D action roguelike that pulls Ragna, Noel, and the chaos of the BlazBlue universe into a run-based structure. Seven elemental abilities shape each attempt.

Setup

  1. Confirm the build. The game ships a universal binary. It opens natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
  2. Mind the controls. A controller feels right here. Tight movement and special cancels are part of the loop. Keyboard works, but the game was built for a pad.
  3. Keep expectations grounded. This is not a lightweight pixel-art affair. Particle effects and character animations push the GPU. A stronger GPU makes the runs smoother.

Dash-cancel drop

You pick Ragna. The lobby fades, and a short corridor drops you into a combat arena.

First room: three drones and a heavy melee construct. You chain a dash-cancel into an uppercut. The construct shatters. A legacy skill shard drops — Jin’s ice blade. You slot it. Now your combos apply a short freeze. The next room crowds the screen with floating turrets. Ice blade clears half before they fire.

By the fifth room, you’ve inherited a lightning buff from Noel’s kit. Cold and shock layers stack on every hit. The mini-boss staggers under both. It never reaches its second phase.

Between biomes, a quiet branching menu appears. You choose a path marked with a skill shop. Inside, you trade earned currency to upgrade the ice blade’s duration. The run bends toward control rather than raw damage. You notice how different this feels from the previous run, where fire and wind inheritance turned every encounter into a speed-kill race.

Your session ends at the third boss. Not a failure — the unlock screen shows two new legacy slots and a character tint. The run took eleven minutes. You queue another.

Damage numbers

Dismiss the default resolution. Switch to your display’s native panel size immediately. The scaling looks sharper.

Turn on Damage Numbers. It’s off by default. Seeing stagger thresholds in real time changes how you time cancels.

Reduce Screen Shake to thirty percent. The default intensity muddies fast sequences. Your eyes track enemy tells better with the dial turned down.

In audio, set Voice Language to Japanese. The English voices are serviceable, but the original cast carries the BlazBlue tone with more weight. The soundtrack needs no adjustment — let it run full.

Online lobbies sit alongside the solo grind. Cross-platform saves let you move progress between a desktop and a handheld without friction. A clean, focused port.
