One rig for recording guitarists and bassists, from clean chime to high-gain stacks. TH-U Premium replaces separate amp sims, IR loaders and pedalboards with one plug-in.
One preset, three sounds
- A Vox-style amp at edge-of-breakup, PHASE STONE for the verse. Scene 1.
- A higher-gain model with the new Reverse Delay for the chorus. Scene 2.
- A Plexi variant with slapback from ModulaVerb for the lead. Scene 3.
MIDI program changes switch scenes during playback.
Cabinet and capture
SuperCabinet loads Fluid Convolution IRs with up to four mics per cabinet, 18 mic models in all, and a dual IR loader in the same module. When a preset is close but not exact, the capture engine profiles your own amp.
The Session player and the live performer get the most from TH-U Premium. The session player gets 89 amp models and over 1000 presets already organized, so a usable tone is two clicks away. The live performer gets standalone mode and MIDI scene switching, with no host to manage on stage. Bassists get a dedicated preset bank and the four bass amps, which keeps them from sorting through guitar-focused defaults.
Beginners often load a preset and stop there. That works, but the cabinet module is where the sound opens up. A common mistake is leaving the default microphone position and wondering why every amp sounds distant. Move the mic. Try two mics instead of one. The dual IR loader rewards small changes.
Another beginner habit: adding more gain instead of changing the cabinet. The amp model is rarely the weak point. The cabinet and mic choice shape the tone more than another 2 dB of drive.
