RX 12 changes how you work inside a session. The new Scene Rebalance separates dialogue, music, and effects without stems. Trim Silence cleans long files. Stems View lets you apply the toolkit to isolated material. The rebuilt Breath Control and De-bleed finish what older versions started.
- Place De-hum or De-click on dialogue tracks before the compressor.
- Use Dialogue Isolate on buses when room tone fights the voice.
- Run Spectral De-noise on music beds, then De-reverb on the same insert chain.
- Apply De-clip to podcast recordings that hit the limiter too hard.
- Keep Repair Assistant on a spare bus for quick fixes during rough edits.
- Stems View works well for sample libraries and game audio, where each layer needs separate attention.
Overly safe assistant
Repair Assistant chooses a safe starting point. Sometimes too safe. It backs off from heavy clipping or leaves low hum untreated. Manually dial in De-clip or De-hum afterward. The assistant learns nothing from your corrections.
De-bleed works best when the bleed source is constant — a snare in a tom mic, headphones in a vocal booth. It struggles with intermittent sounds. Short bursts confuse the detection. Print a few seconds of isolated bleed to help it lock.
Stems View shows four lanes by default. Dragging a file in and seeing only one lane usually means the source is mono. No error, just silence in the extra lanes. Switch to the correct channel count before importing.
Trim Silence can cut too close on breath-heavy narration. Lower the threshold and add a small pad at both ends. Ten milliseconds is often enough to keep consonants intact.
Option-click isolation
Holding Option while adjusting the De-click sensitivity previews only the removed clicks. Useful for catching false positives on hi-hats or mouth noise.
Command-click a module in the chain to bypass everything else. A quick A/B without touching six buttons.
Spectral De-noise learns faster from a selection made during a pause, not a noisy section. A half-second of room tone is often cleaner than a longer sample with chair creaks or breaths tucked in.
Dialogue Isolate and Music Rebalance now let you solo the extracted stem without routing. Click the stem name in the module. One less bus to set up.
Batch Processor accepts chains saved from the standalone app. Build a chain once — De-hum, De-click, loudness normalization — and drop a folder of field recordings on it.
Native silicon instant
The installer includes native Apple silicon support. No Rosetta prompts. Module windows open instantly on an M-series Mac. Processing times stay predictable: a five-minute stereo file through Spectral De-noise at highest quality takes about twenty seconds.
ARA integration keeps edits in sync across the DAW timeline. No round-tripping. Spectral Editor selections follow your transport. AAX Audiosuite works the same way in Pro Tools — select, render, move on.
Memory use stays modest until you stack high-resolution spectral edits. Undo history grows quickly inside the standalone app. Purge it from the History menu if the beachball appears.
Scene Rebalance runs in real time as an insert. No offline render required. That changes how you audition separation — tweak, listen, tweak again without waiting.
With other things
RX Connect sends audio from your NLE to the standalone app and back. Resolve, Premiere, Final Cut — three clicks and the clip opens in RX's full editor. Render and the timeline updates. Dialogue editors lean on this daily.
Monitor output follows the system audio device. If your interface drops, RX goes silent. No internal routing fallback. Keep Audio MIDI Setup open during long sessions.
Keyboard shortcuts mirror common DAW conventions. Space for playback, I and O for in and out points, Command-Z for undo. Muscle memory transfers without friction.
The plugin versions load cleanly in Logic, Ableton Live, and Pro Tools. No wrapper needed. Latency stays low on De-ess and De-click — safe for tracking with direct monitoring off.
The modules sit naturally across tracks and buses. Nothing here asks you to leave the session.
