Runs on any Mac from macOS 10.13 onward, as a standalone app or AU plugin. The core sound is a Fazioli F212 grand, captured at Riksmixningsverket in Stockholm through multiple microphone sets.

Shape the tone

Move from a close, dry presence to a wide ambient room with the mic and ambience controls. Mix-ready presets cover the rest—pressed, felted, bright, or dark, chosen from a short list that gets you there fast.

Find the part

Tap2Find turns your rhythm and a few notes into a suggested accompaniment, pulled from a MIDI library played by working pianists. The library spans genres and styles, so the suggestion feels like a player reacting, not a pattern triggering.

Place it in a mix

The sound sits where you put it. No build-up of low-mid clutter, no brittle top end to tame. It arrives balanced, leaving room for a vocal or a bass line without extra EQ work.

Give it a quiet day. A piano library this detailed needs a moment to settle into your workflow before you reach for the big composition tools.

Core sound

Start inside the standalone app, not the plugin. The resizable interface responds cleanly at half-screen on a laptop, which is enough to explore the core sound without the pressure of a session.

Load one mix-ready preset per day. The felted and dark patches hide details a beginner misses; the close-mic preset reveals them. Switch between just two and listen for what the Fazioli gives you at different velocities.

Drag a single MIDI groove from the library into your DAW. Strip it to eight bars, change the chord in Songwriter Scales, and play it back. The point is not the song—it's learning how the instrument reacts to a chord shift you chose, not one suggested for you.

Scroll past top

Treating Tap2Find as a one-click arranger is the common mistake. Tap in a rhythm and a note cluster, then ignore the first suggestion. Scroll to the third or fourth. The library has range; the top result is not the best one.

Another misstep: leaving the ambience knob at default. The room at Riksmixningsverket is part of the instrument. Push it wide on a sparse verse, pull it tight for a chorus with a full band. The control is there to be moved.

Beginners also skip the velocity curve adjustment. A weighted controller and a synth-action keyboard need different response shapes. The difference shows most in the softest dynamics of the Fazioli, where the felt and hammer noise become audible.

M-series launch

Version 2.1.5 loads noticeably faster on Apple Silicon than its predecessor, especially when multiple cores are available. Standalone launch is under three seconds on an M-series Mac with the library on internal storage. Plugin scan in Logic Pro completes without delay.

Memory use stays flat during long sessions. Cycling through ten library grooves with Tap2Find and switching presets every few bars produces no audible dropouts or interface lag. CPU spikes are rare and momentary, even at a 64-sample buffer.

Intel Macs see the multi-core improvement too, though the gain is smaller. The software runs without issue on a 2018 Mac mini, with the fan barely audible during playback of a five-track arrangement.

Questions

What piano is the core sound based on?

The core library is built around a Fazioli F212 grand piano, recorded at Riksmixningsverket in Stockholm, Sweden.

Can EZkeys 2 run without a DAW?

Yes, it works as a standalone application in addition to running as an AU plugin inside a host.
