Join string literals. The intention appears in the current build, alongside a struct field alignment quickfix that tidies declarations without a trip to gofmt.

  • Compiler escape analysis results now show inline — no more switching to a terminal to see what got allocated on the heap.
  • Experimental goroutine leak profiler support lands for Go 1.26.
  • On-the-fly error detection with automatic fixes remains the quiet backbone of the editor.
  • Instant navigation to declarations, interfaces, and overridden methods still works the same way: one click, no dialog boxes.
  • Code coverage and test running tools sit inside the IDE, not in a separate pane you have to hunt for.

Build 262.10968.67 needs macOS 11 or later. The rest of the IDE — safe refactorings, smart completion, cross-platform support for Windows, macOS, and Linux — stays exactly as you left it.

Plugin trim

Disable the plugins you won’t touch. Database tools, Terraform support, Kubernetes — JetBrains bundles over a thousand, and the IDE loads faster once you trim the ones you never see. Head to Preferences → Plugins and uncheck what doesn’t serve your current project. You can always re-enable them later.

Map Navigate to implementation to a single keystroke you’ll remember. The default is fine, but muscle memory forms fast. A custom shortcut here saves hundreds of trips through the context menu in the first week alone.

Let the escape analysis inline hints teach you. Write code as usual, then glance at the margin. When a variable you expected to stay on the stack lights up as heap-allocated, pause and study why. The feedback loop tightens without a single terminal command.

Run the goroutine leak profiler on a test that spawns concurrent work. The tooling is experimental for Go 1.26, but catching a leaked goroutine early in a new project is worth the five minutes it takes to set up a profile run.

String join

The Join string literals intention removes a small friction point that used to require manual concatenation or a trip through Sprintf. Two adjacent string literals, one keystroke — they become one. The struct field alignment quickfix does similar quiet work: declarations that drifted out of order snap back into place without leaving the file.

Inline escape analysis results change how you read your own code. Instead of running a separate diagnostic and cross-referencing line numbers in a terminal, you see the allocation decision right where it happens. For developers chasing GC pressure, this alone shortens the feedback loop considerably.
